Marian Mitchell Donahue is a writer, educator, and operations professional based in Brooklyn, New York.

Her debut novel, Backstitch, is forthcoming from Galiot Press in March 2026. Her fiction and humor have appeared in publications including L’Esprit Literary Review and The Southampton Review, and she was awarded a Mixed Media Residency from The Church at Sag Harbor in 2023.

Marian holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Literature from Stony Brook University, where she received the Deborah Hect Memorial Prize for Fiction. She has also taught literature and creative writing at Baruch College and Stony Brook University, designing and leading courses on fiction, literary history, and storytelling craft.

Alongside her creative work, Marian has built a career in operations and program management, supporting global initiatives, facilitating collaboration across teams, and helping organizations communicate more effectively. Her professional experience informs her writing, grounding her stories in the complexities of work, relationships, and the systems people move through every day.

Marian’s work explores connection, transformation, and the quiet moments that shape who we become. She lives in Brooklyn, where she continues to write fiction and teach.
